Fish Seller, Evening Market (1843). 63 x 48.8 cm (24.8 x 19.2 in). Alte Nationalgalerie, Berlin

The painting depicts two women in the evening market, one selling fish and the other buying from her. In the middle of the scene is a candle (Schendel's special touch) that lights both their faces and in the background is a lamp with a dim light in order to add balance so that the background is not completely dark.[1]
